Hyderabad: In a major relief to people in Andhra Pradesh, power cuts have been lifted completely across cities, towns and mandals. Power cuts have been lifted as the demand has dropped considerably from 160 MU to 134 MU due to the rains.

Though the officials have said that the power cuts have been lifted, no official announcement has been made yet. However, with no power deficit on Friday, and with hydel generation being stepped up, the situation is likely to be comfortable in the coming weeks.

Earlier, the towns and cities were facing four-six hour power cuts; mandal headquarters were having six-eight hour cuts and villages upto 12 hours of power cuts. The deficit in the state has decreased by 35 MU between July 2 and July 18. “The situation is comfortable due to a combination of good rains, hydel power generation and our efforts.” said a highly placed source.
