Microsoft is presently in the news with almost 18,000 employees being laid off. With the new CEO in place, Satya’s vision is to boost the handset market with its own software, Windows Phone.

According to a report on Softpedia, ‘Satya Nadella and Stepen Elop also announced that Microsoft’s Android phone lineup would no longer exist.’

This will include the Nokia X series, which recently received its second generation line, to be killed off and Microsoft will completely focus on Windows Phone-based handsets in future.

Windows Phone is presently a huge threat to its rival, Google’s Android, and according to Microsoft, the market does not need another Android phone.

Softpedia also reported, ‘Microsoft announced that it would shift some Nokia X handsets, currently running under the Android operating system, into Windows-based products in the Lumia lineup.’
