Tollywood’s latest debutante Seerat Kapoor
Seerat walks into the Telugu film industry with Run Raja Run
This year, Tollywood saw a huge number of debutantes. The latest is 21-year-old Seerat Kapoor, who will mark her acting debut with Run Raja Run, opposite Sharwanand. Seerat joined Ashley Lobo’s dance institute as a dance instructor when she was seventeen.
“I have worked as a dance instructor for five years and have also assisted in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar. Dance used to keep me occupied for long periods, giving me very little time to pursue modelling. I wanted to become a model and to follow my passion, I cut down a bit on dancing and started giving auditions,” says Seerat who has also done few commercials.
And that’s how her journey to Tollywood started. After working as a model for some time, she started giving auditions for movies. In the meanwhile, Seerat also pursued a diploma course in acting.
Talking about how she bagged Run Raja Run, she says, “One day my manager informed me about an audition which was taking place in Hyderabad, where the makers where looking for a fresh face. I reached Hyderabad the next day and gave my audition. Then there was a photo shoot, followed by a screen test after which I was selected for the role.”
About her role, Seerat says, “Priya, the girl I play, is a dreamer. The story is about how Sharwanand’s character influences her to change and she starts living in the moment and enjoys life.”
Being new to the language, Seerat took it as a challenge and made sure that she delivered her own dialogues while shooting. “I learnt and understood the dialogues before I delivered them. The lines have been dubbed, but I am happy that the lip sync was correct and that I was able to say the dialogue.”
About working with Sharwanand, she says, “I had heard he was a serious person because of the roles he had played in the past. But he is fun-loving and isn’t the serious kind at all!”
