Telangana: 2 film studios land in trouble
Large stretches of land was “misused” by the owners
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is gearing up to confiscate large stretches of land granted to popular film studios, Padmalaya and Annapurna, which was “misused” by the owners the veteran film actors, G. Krishna and the late Akkineni Nageswara Rao respectively.
It can be recalled that before the formation of Telangana, the present IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, staged protests against giving back land to these studios, when it was taken over by the past government for using it for purposes other than it was granted for.
The state chief commissioner of land administration S.K. Sinha said, “There are violations in the lands given to these studios. Some are being misused while some have been sold.”
One of the main violation in case of Padmalaya Studios in Filmnagar is the land was also sold to private parties, including Zee Telefilms Ltd and Creative Developers, while some part was transferred to family members.
