Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s family was unaware about Lord's Honours Boards
Bhuvi's father candidly admitted that he was not aware of the otherwise famous Lord's Honours Boards
Mumbai: Kiran Pal Singh, the sub-Inspector of police in Meerut had never heard about Lord's Honours Boards where his son, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar's name, along with last Indian Test centurion Ajinkya Rahane's would be put at Lord's pavilion after the ongoing Test.
"Oh, I really didn't know about it and never knew that the 5-wicket takers in an innings or 10 wickets in a Test match and centurions are honoured at Lord's", he said exclusively over his residence.
These Honours boards, are provided in the 'home' and 'away' dressing rooms. They provide a permanent reminder to the players of the best batting and bowling performances in the long history of Lord's.
"We sat before the TV when match started and knew our Bhuvi would grab at least two more wickets on the the third day and would carry from where he took 4 yesterday and that's was he did to-day."
"We watched his all spells yesterday (2nd day) but could not hear his comments after the match when the light went off. Because of bad weather the power supply in our area went off minutes after the play. It was remarkable to see our son taking all top order 4 wickets on Friday."
"We feel proud for his performance and hope India win this Test", he added minutes after completion of England's first innings.
The last Indian best performer (bowler) at Lord's was Praveen Kumar. The fast bowler Praveen Kumar (also from Meerut) grabbed five wickets in the first innings against England on this ground three seasons ago. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar thanked PK for his recent performance.
"Oh, it was nice of him to have credited me. I played at Lord's and informally I told him about the wicket there. There was no specific advice given to him. But Bhuvi is a good smart bowler and he did well so far in this Test", the 28-year-old Praveen Kumar, speaking exclusively from Dehadun, where he has been attending the camp organised by UPCA coach Venkatesh Prasad, said over telephone.
