Bengaluru rape case: Violence outside school where minor was assaulted
Skating instructor arrested; police seize laptop, mobile filled with pornographic material
Bengaluru: An ugly scuffle broke out between protesters and police on Monday outside the school where a six-year-old girl was raped by her skating instructor.
Members of BJP's students' wing ABVP shouted slogans outside the school and broke barricades demanding justice for the girl.
Facing public anger, the police on Sunday arrested a skating instructor in connection with the alleged rape, six days after the outrageous incident was brought to light.
As protests demanding answers from the police and the government over alleged inaction intensified, Bengaluru police commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar announced the arrest of Mus-taffa after interrogation of eight persons, who were detained for questioning.
“Mustaffa, 31, is the main accused. He was arrested after interrogation,” ACP (crime) Pranab Mohanty said, adding that this would lead to more arrests. This is the first arrest in the horrific incident which occurred on July 2 and came to light on July 14 after a police complaint was lodged.
Mr Auradkar said police has recovered a mobile phone and laptop which contained obscene pictures of children from Mr Mustaffa, who is from Darbhanga, Bihar, and had been living in Bengaluru for the last 20 years. The accused would be produced before a court on Monday, said Mr Auradkar, who came under mounting pressure and faced public ire over alleged police inaction.
