Hyderabad High Court dismisses PIL against government order
A plea was filed stating the government had failed to conduct periodic revisions of Backward Castes
Hyderabad: A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday dismissed a PIL challenging GOMs No 9 issued on May 17, 2011, by the Untied Andhra Pradesh government, providing extension of reservations for a period of 10 years from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2020 to Backward Classes in education and employment sectors.
C. Sai Vishnuvardhan, a resident of the city, moved the plea stating that the government has failed to conduct periodic revision of BCs list in accordance with Section 11 of the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993, prior to issuance of the GO.
The Chief Justice said the Bench is willing to look into the submissions if a sworn affidavit was filed explaining the reasons that forced the petitioner to file the PIL.
