Vibgyor case: School, accused see room for escape
After long interrogations, police haven’t been able to get accused to admit to crime
Bengaluru: Police sources have indicated that despite intense 12-hour-long interrogations of skating instructor Mustapha alias Munna, the alleged rapist of the six-year-old student of Vigbyor High School, since he was taken into custody on Sunday, police haven’t been able to get the accused to admit to the crime, nor have they definitively located the crime scene.
Sources close to the investigation told Deccan Chronicle that Mustapha was refusing to admit to the crime, in the knowledge that there is little clinching evidence that can prove that he is the perpetrator. Police have nothing to go on beyond the little girl’s word.
Investigators also said that when shown the CCTV footage which shows him dragging the child, the gym instructor laughed it off, saying all he was doing was “playing with her” and that was not a crime.
The child herself clearly remembers being locked in a room on the third floor, when the perpetrators walked in and raped her. The management has attempted to rubbish the claims entirely saying the incident didn't take place on the campus at all.
The new police commissioner, M.N.Reddi who visited the school premises on Monday, claimed that CCTV cameras were faulty and that there was no way to confirm the victim's story.
Is this child going to fall prey to a massive cover-up? When Commissioner M.N. Reddi was asked about the 'dark room' the 6-year-old rape victim said she was locked in, he said, “The VIBGYOR management is denying the existence of a dark room. We are closely examining the CCTV footage to ascertain what exactly the child was talking about.”
