Shiv Sena MPs 'force' fasting Muslim staffer to eat during Ramzan
Uproar in both houses of Parliament over Sena MPs ‘behaviour’
New Delhi: In a shocking incident, 11 members of Parliament belonging to BJP’s ally, Shiv Sena forced a Muslim staffer, who was fasting for Ramzan to eat food at the Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi, according to a report published in the Indian Express.
The MPs were upset over not being served Maharashtrian food.
An official complaint has been filed to the Maharashtra resident commissioner Bipin Mallick by IRCTC, the Indian Railways subsidiary catering for Mahrashtra Sadan. All operations by IRCTC have been halted in protest.
The report said that the MPs misbehaved with the staff at the dining area. The staffer, Arshad Zubair has been deeply hurt by the indecent behaviour of the MPs during the holy month of Ramzan.
The Maharashtra government has promised ‘appropriate action’ against the MPs after a detailed probe.
The MPs however deny the allegations.
