Model accuses Maharashtra IPS of rape
Model had first met him last year in connection with a case
Mumbai: A model-turned-actress has accused a senior IPS officer of rape and molestation when she had first met him last year in connection with a case.
The police have registered an FIR against 1997-batch IPS officer, DIG (Protection of Civil Rights Unit) Sunil Paraskar, who was then heading the north region of the city police as an additional commissioner.
While her complaint states that the alleged rape took place last year, her Twitter posts suggest that she was in touch with Paraskar only since this January.
The case has been transferred to the crime branch. The Home ministry has also sought a report from Maharshtra.
Assistant commissioner of police Ramesh Lokhare said, “We have registered an FIR against DIG Paraskar after the model claimed she was sexually assaulted by him.” According to joint CP (crime) Sadanand Date, the crime against women cell headed by DCP Sharda Raut has taken over the investigations.
