New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday adopted a restrained approach in the matter involving a Shiv Sena MP allegedly force-feeding a Muslim employee who was observing Roza.

The Union home ministry, which received a preliminary report from the Maharashtra government, said that since no police complaint has been filed as yet, there is very limited role for the Centre’s intervention in the issue.

There was uproar in Parliament over the incident, with the Congress, the SP, the CPI, CPM and the JDU, demanding action against the MPs. Parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the Centre will respond on the issue after ascertaining full facts by Friday.
