She was rescued by locals after she drifted seven km down the river
Raipur: A 22-year-old girl fell into a flooded river here while taking a ‘selfie’ on Thursday morning. She was rescued by locals after she drifted seven km down the river.
“I was taking ‘selfie’ while standing on the bridge over the river Kharoun. I was so much engrossed in clicking my pictures in my cell phone that I didn’t know when I stepped into the edge of the bridge. Then I slipped and fell into the river,” Bhumika, who has been admitted in a hospital at Atari where she was rescued, said.
The high current in the river saved her from drowning and kept her afloat in the water. Her shout for help caught attention of some people who were standing on the bank of the river near Atari village who rescued her after a three-hour rescue effort. She had gone to the river with her sister on Thursday evening.
