Rule Committee to study High Court staff retirement age
Andhra Pradesh, Telangana staff seek benefit
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has referred the issue of enhancing the retirement age of its employees to its Rule Committee. The Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders by increasing the retirement age of its employees from 58 to 60 years.
The Hyderabad High Court which is functioning as the Common High Court for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has a combination of employees from both the states.
Employees Associations of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh of the High Court have been demanding to extend the benefit for them too, treating the High Court as a single unit.
As per the rules, the district judge is competent to take a decision with regard to retirement of the subordinate judicial employees and the decision of the AP has been implementing in various districts of AP except in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Kadapa and Anantapur.
The High Court has referred the matter to the Rule Committee comprising Justice L. Narasimha Reddy, Justice K.C. Bhanu and Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy to look into the issue of rising the retirement age of High Court employees to 60 years in tune with the decision of the AP state.
Elsewhere, The AP Unemployees’ Associa-tion on Thursday moved the Hyderabad High Court challenging the decision of the AP government in extending the age limit for superannuation of the government servants from 58 to 60 years.
The Association, represented by its president P. Kalyan of Nellore, submitted that the members of the Association are all unemployed youth having various qualifications and their chances to have employment in the government depar-tments were diminished in view of the bifurcation of the state into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
