Hyderabad: Once again, a major tragedy has forced the transport authorities to wake up and book cases against regular violators.

The Telangana transport department seized 17 school buses on Friday for operating without requisite fitness certificates. As many as 102 cases were booked against school buses for violating norms.

“We find buses violating several norms every time we conduct a special drive. It is the responsibility of the school to ensure the safety of the children,” a transport official said.  Hundreds of cases were booked against private buses last year after the mishap near Mahbubnagar which resulted in 45 passengers  being charred to death.
