Hyderabad: While Telangana state government employees received their salary for the month of July on Friday, their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh are yet to get it.

In view of Ramzan festival, both the state governments announced that employees will be paid this month’s salary on July 26. Accordingly, the Telangana government dispensed salaries on July 25.

But, in Andhra Pradesh, the finance department objected to giving salaries to the employees in advance and instead sent the file to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to take a final decision in this regard.

Sources said that the finance department wrote that there is no convention to pay salaries in advance in view of Ramzan festival.

In 2009 under special circumstances, the state government paid salaries in advance but never did so again in view of Ramzan.

If the government allows for such conventions, then it might have to consider Dusshera, Diwali and Sankranthi festivals too.

However, Chief Minister Mr Naidu will take the final decision regarding this next week.
