Hyderabad: A month after filing a cheating case against her boyfriend at the Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar police station, TV anchor and artiste Anusri approached the Banjara Hills police alleging that her boyfriend was threatening her to withdraw the lawsuit filed against him.

According to sources, a few days ago, the accused Mallikarjuna Rao alias Arjun, a software engineer,  called on her to discuss about the case filed against him. During their conversation, he allegedly threatened her to withdraw the case or she would face dire consequences. The accused threatened her more than once.

Mr P. Murali Krishna, inspector of police at Banjara Hills said, “Out of fear she approached us and lodged a complaint. A case was booked under Section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC and we took up investigation.”

Meanwhile, the accused claimed he had not threatened the anchor, but she was trying to malign his reputation. In June, the TV anchor approached the SR Nagar police alleging that she and Mallikarjuna Rao from Kathipudi were in love for five years and were also in a live-in relationship. She alleged that when they stayed together, he had promised to marry her, but later he didn’t show interest and suddenly disappeared. She learnt that he was planning to marry another woman in Vizag.

Based on her complaint, the police booked a case against Mallikarjuna Rao and nabbed him in Vizag from the marriage venue. He was later sent to judicial remand and then released.
