Woman duped through Facebook of Rs 1.7 lakh
The fraud convinced her that she won a prize containing gold jewellery and iPhones

Hyderabad: A Delhi-based fraud lured a 34-year-old woman from Nagole on Facebook chat and convinced her that she won a prize containing gold jewellery and iPhones worth lakhs of rupees.
He took Rs 1.7 lakh from her as customs clearance charges and ‘anti-terrorism clearance funds’.
Cyberabad police arrested three associates of the fraud from Hyderabad on Sunday, while the main accused ‘Mittu’ and his close aide Sitar Mohammed are absconding. The arrested were identified as Rahat Ali, 26, Mohd. Tanveer Ansari, 27, and Shah Hussain, all natives of Bihar and residents of Ganeshpuri Colony, Chaitanyapuri.
“They obtained voter ID and pan cards using fake documents and opened bank accounts at Gachibowli with different banks. Rahat Ali and Tanveer Ansari had opened 10 bank accounts each, all under fictitious names. Mittu would make the victims deposit money into these accounts,” said Cyberabad additional DCP, crimes, Ms Janaki Sharmila.
The arrested people confessed that the main accused offered them job while they were working in Bihar. When they reached Hyderabad, they were told to open bank accounts and work for him.
