Hyderabad: Union home minister Rajnath Singh is learnt to have expressed concern over the communal violence in Uttar Pradesh and asked the state to control the situation, offering full Central assistance. The MHA on Saturday rushed six companies of the paramilitary forces to the affected areas.

Tension also prevailed in Kanth area of the state’s Moradabad district as the BJP refused to back out of its proposed protest against district officials for allegedly “victimising” its cadres. Some BJP leaders and state chief Laxmikant Bajpai were detained as they tired to enter Kanth to lodge an FIR against the Moradabad SSP.

As tension mounted in Moradabad, BJP MLA Sangeet Som, facing cha-rges for his involvement in the Muzaffarnagar riots, claimed that “no one will be able to stop him”.
