Karimnagar: Lord Ganesha and his rat are a familiar sight in all Hindu temples. But, a tiny rat going round and round a mango plant in the Goddess Yellamma temple in Bavusaipeta, Konaraopet mandal, on Saturday made news.

Some devotees noticed the rat while it was circling around the plant at 6 am. Soon, they informed residents of the village. By 7 am, a large number of villagers came to the temple and started worshipping the rat, believing it was miracle of Goddess Yellamma.

To everybody’s surprise, the rat went on tirelessly even after crowds gathered.

After a few minutes rest,  the rat began its rounds again. One of the devotees said that the rat was found running around the plant till the evening.

The villagers started breaking coconuts and sprinkled vermillion and turmeric powder on the mango plant. They have decided to contribute funds to construct a temple for Lord Vinayaka at
the site.
