Mumbai: A film on hockey legend Dhyan Chand has been in the news since 2012. Initially, there were multiple reports suggesting Shah Rukh would reprise the role, especially when his portrayal of the coach of Women’s Hockey team in Chak De, was loved by everyone. At that time, Ila Bedi Dutta was quoted saying, “I recently met Shah Rukh to discuss the project. To us, he is the perfect choice for Dhyan Chand. Though we haven't heard from him yet, we expect him to sign the dotted line.”

At Pro Kabaddi League, Abhishek Bachchan, who owns Jaipur Pink Panthers, said, “A sportsman whose life will be fantastic on screen is Major Dhyan Chand. It will be an unbelievable story. These are the stories that need to be told. I told Shah Rukh Khan (during the shoot of Happy New Year) to make a film on it and play the protagonist, because he looks a lot like him. If you see his photo, you ust need to change Shah Rukh's hair a bit. Shah Rukh was a hockey player. I think he will be fantastic.”

However, Shah Rukh in all these years has not spoken much about this project. Now, in an interesting development, the writer is now in talks with Ranbir Kapoor for this project. Pooja Shetty will produce the film.
