TV screamer’s Tollywood connection
Saba Saudagar, who screams at an eve teaser in a popular ad, talks about how she got the role
Hyderabad: The new Tata Docomo advertisement, in which a girl screams loudly to scare away a roadside romeo teasing two girls at a bus stop, is trending everywhere.
Saba Saudagar, the screaming girl, who made her film debut with the Telugu film Bunny and Cherry, says, “Honestly, I wasn’t even prepared for the audition for this advertisement. One of my two meetings got delayed so I just went to the audition with zero expectations, to utilise my time between my meetings.”
She adds that she didn’t even have the required costume needed for the audition. “But when I auditioned, everyone started laughing at my scream and asked me how I did it,” says Saba, adding, “I said, just remember your ex, and you will get your scream right.”
She says that she was on a holiday and the advertisement people could not get through her phone to inform her that she had been finalised. “When I finally got network, I received a message from my casting director Vishal Gajaria,” says Saba.
Saba says that there was a huge queue and she had to wait one-and-a-half hours for the audition. “After waiting for so long I was fed up and had just got off my seat to leave, when they called me. So maybe, it was just destined to happen,” she says, adding, “I came to know that it is among the top five ads in the country.”
When asked what her reaction would be in a similar situation, she says, “The character is typical me.”
The actress is now set to start her second Telugu film. “Yes the shooting will start soon. The film is going to be produced by Multi Dimensions”, she says.
