Police raids DJ party on luxury boat
Nearly 100 people hailing both from state and outside were attending the party
Kochi: A police team here has raided a luxury boat named Creek Cruiser anchored off Marine Drive and seized several bottles of liquor, beer and drugs during a DJ party on Sunday night. According to the police, nearly 100 persons hailing both from the state and outside were attending the party. Two women were also present in the party.
The police said that the participants attended the party on the basis invitations disseminated through Facebook and social media networks.
The raid conducted by a police team headed by DCP R. Nishanthini, ACP Rex Bobby Arvin and inspector Honey K Das found 20 bottles of liquor and 12 cases of beer during the raid. Rex also said that some of the participants were found carrying small quantity of marijuana. Police is also verifying whether persons involved in criminal cases and linked with goonda activities were also attending the party.
The police said that the party was organised by an event management group name Mykochi Online. The police team has taken into custody a person identified as Prasanth belonging to Thrissur in connection with the incident. The luxury boat is leased by a person named Shijin belonging to Mavelikkara.
The police officials said that cases will be filed against the organizers of the event for violating provisions of Abkari Act as the organisers have not taken permission for conducting party in which liquor was served. The website of mykochionline.com had advertised the event as ‘Flow and Fly Cruise Party charging Rs 1,500 for single entry and Rs 2,000 for couple.
