Kollam: PDP Chairman Abdul Nasser Madani who was released on one-month bail on medical grounds after being jailed as an under-trial prisoner in Bangalore for the last four years has chosen facebook as a means to interact with his followers. His official facebook page started last week and got more than 33,000 likes within a week.

The facebook page which was started on July 20 is maintained by Madani's son Umar Mukhtar. “I am now experiencing freedom thanks to a slight ray of justice and relief. I am also taking part in social media in this phase,” Madani says in his first post. He also has urged the community to pray for those dying on the streets of Palestine. Most of the posts convey the virtues of the month of Ramzan and the good deeds to be followed to honour the month.

In what seems to be a letter to his followers, Madani says that he started the page as there were no other means to interact with his ‘brothers’ after he ‘got to breathe in the air of freedom’. "Each word that comes in the page in my name is uploaded by my son Umar Mukhtar after I dictate it to him. I also listen to the comments on my posts, as he reads it including the names," he posted.

Abdul Nasser Madani has also mentioned about how bad his eyesight is. “I am not able to read the contents of the page because of my deteriorating eyesight. However, I try reading the Quran daily using one printed in big letters which was gifted by a man from Oman, that too with powerful lenses,” he says.

Madani was arrested on August 2010, while on a Ramzan fast as an under-trial prisoner in connection with the Bangalore serial blasts and was lodged in Parapanna Agrahara Prison before he was granted one-month bail on July 11, after four years of imprisonment.
