Red sanders seized in Hayathnagar in Hyderabad

A case has been registered under the Indian Forest Act, 1967

Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police raided a room in Kothaguda and seized about five logs of red sanders weighing about 70 kg. 

As part of a routine, the houses in the police station limits were searched for criminals, rowdy sheeters.

There was also a focus on the bachelors’ rooms in the area. “It was while we were searching a bachelor’s room, we recovered the red sandalwood logs. Seeing us, the inmate fled from the spot.” Said Mr. P. Venkateshwarlu, Inspector of Police Hayathnagar.

The accused name was revealed as Chinna Reddy. A man hunt to nab him is on.

“The wood is sold for  Rs 1,000 per kilo in the market. The material seized would be in lakhs. A case has been booked and registered under the Indian Forest Act, 1967.
