Andhra Pradesh revenue collection nears target of Rs 5000 crore

The government is expecting Rs 32,164 crore from major revenue collection departments

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh state revenue collections are gradually improving and in the month of July the revenue collections reached the target. The state government targeted Rs 5,000 crore revenue collections every month, but in the month of June, the revenue collections were around Rs 900 crore less than the target. 
 
The finance officials said in the month of July that the revenue collections reached Rs 4,000 crore. They hoped that by the end of the month it will reach the target and the revenue collections gradually back on track.
 
The government is expecting Rs 32,164 crore from major revenue collection departments like sales tax, excise, stamps and registrations and motor vehicles tax, in the present financial year.
 
It also expects Rs 16, 461 crore from non-tax revenues like forests, mines and minerals and other sources. At the same time the state requires Rs 21,127 crore for employees’ salaries, Rs 7,233 crore for pensions, Rs 862 crore for scholarships, Rs 862 crore for fee reimbursement, Rs 1,469 crore for power subsidy and Rs 2,188 crore for 10 months, from June 2014 to March 2015.
 
Meanwhile, the social welfare department asked the finance department for Rs 4,000 crore for scholarships and fee reimbursement for the present financial year.
