Bengaluru: The government or police can’t have two policies on the same issue. They can’t impose stringent guidelines for self-styled private schools and government schools with poor infrastructure. How can the government treat students studying in government schools like second-class citizens?

“To the best of my knowledge, compared to private schools, children studying in government schools are more vulnerable to physical abuse due to the poor monitoring systems. In such circumstances, installation of CCTVs is very important.

“There is no meaning in keeping private buses/cabs/ vans out of the purview of the rules. Generally those who opt for school buses run by the school are from affluent families. Those who can’t afford it, opt for the services of the private operators. I don’t think CCTVs are needed inside the vans and there is very little space to install them. But while framing policies, government agencies should be more careful and should consult with all the stake holders before taking any decision.”
