Hyderabad: Trying to break the deadlock on the fee reimbursement issue, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday proposed to share the fee burden for students on the population ratio of the two states and said that his government was ready to bear 58 per cent of the fee reimbursement expenditure while Telangana government should pay 42 per cent.

However, the offer will only be valid if the existing fee reimbursement scheme is continued in Telangana instead of the newly introduced Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST). Mr Naidu criticised the Telangana’ nativity rule questioning why people should pay taxes if they were not given benefits.
