Hyderabad: A cold war is on between Hyderabad mayor Mr Majid Hussain and Mr Somesh Kumar GHMC commissioner.  The issue being the eight zone litter free programme to be launched on August 1.

“Why has only the central zone been identified as litter free and why not the rest ? GHMC should ensure that the entire city is garbage free. The city needs around 1,400 open dust bins and 2,400 garbage rickshaws. When the basic requirement is not provided how we can term roads as litter free?” said the mayor.

Mr Somesh Kumar said, “The order was issued on July 22. Eight zones are being taken up as a pilot project and the entire city will be covered later. there is an agreement between GHMC and a company and already a 3 km stretch is litter free in the city.” said the GHMC commissioner
