Nimrat Kaur, who shot to fame with The Lunchbox, has now landed a role in the American TV series Homeland. The fourth season of the US show will see Nimrat Kaur essay the role of a high-level operative within Pakistan’s ISI. The actress was in London when she auditioned for the role.

She even confessed on Twitter that she hadn’t watched the plot for the series before she even auditioned for the role. Talking to us from Cape Town, she says, “The experience was a bolt from the blue. I was in London and came to know about the auditions. I thought about giving it a try. Within two-three days, they confirmed me for the show. It is now that I’ve watched the show and know what it is all about.”

With Homeland, the actress is content the way her career has been shaping up. She says, “I’m glad I was free during this time.  I think Homeland is a good departure from The Lunchbox and it is pretty much the priority for me right now.”

The actress has also experimented with theatre and worked with celebrated directors like Sunil Shanbag and Manav Kaul. She may be a part of TV series now, but she doesn’t want to say goodbye to theatre as of now. She says, “I think they are all the same. It’s about how you adapt yourself to the medium. I wouldn’t choose a favourite among the two, but I do want to concentrate on films in the coming future.”

From relocating to Mumbai to make her dreams her reality, to finally making a mark in Indian cinema, the actress is ecstatic that her hard work finally paid off. She says, “It is my hard work that has brought me here. I’ve created it. Nobody can come up to me and tell me that I got lucky with my roles or my work.” “I want to take things slow and steady now. I wouldn’t want to push for anything,” adds the actress.
