Hyderabad:The Cyberabad police conducted another massive search on the city's outskirts as part of their operation to clean up criminal dens, and nabbed 36 suspects and former offenders during the wee hours of Sunday.
250 police officers raided areas like Papi Reddy Colony, Rajiv Gruhakalpa, Bombay Colony, Red House, Santhi Nagar, Vaddera Basthi and Pusala Galli in Chandanagar.
The force, which included additional DCP (Crime) Janaki Sharmila, ACPs and inspectors, seized 32 bikes and two cars. This is the second search carried out by the Cyberabad police after the formation of Telangana in urban anti-Naxal cordon and search style.
Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand launched the cordon and search following the Telangana Government’s decision to provide a sense of security to people through world class policing. Ms Sharmila said that criminals are under the impression that police vigilance would be poor on the city’s outskirts and were taking shelter in outlying colonies.
“Many criminals from rural Telangana, AP and states like Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Odisha etc., are taking shelter in Cyberabad, as it has a vast isolated areas along the ORR,” Ms Sharmila said. Officials said the police would continue operations to check criminals. “We know areas where suspects are hiding. They will be raided soon,” a senior police official said.
