AP owes 1,000 crore as arrears to contractors for non plan works

Hyderabad: With financial position of AP government improving, contractors are making a beeline at the Secretariat for payment of Rs 1,000 crore arrears. AP owes money to contractors for non plan works. 
 
Recently, they met AP finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and finance department officials. On the advice of finance department officials, they met the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and requested for release of arrears. 
 
AP’s financial situation has improved significantly in July. In May, in the united state, the government’s deficit was around Rs 4,000 crore. However, in July, AP’s deficit came down to Rs 124 crore after payment two months salary to the government employees. In view of Ramzan, the AP government paid salaries to employees on July 26 itself. 
 
In July, the state government collected Rs 3,481 crore through various revenue generation departments. From the Central government, it got Rs 1,046 crore as the state’s share of taxes. While the state government’s revenue was Rs 5,527 crore, the expenditure was Rs 5,800 crore. The state government collected Rs 2,266.94 crore from commercial tax department in July.
 
During the last year in the same month, the united state had collected Rs 4,323.38 crore. From the excise department, the state government earned Rs 675 crore in July and last year in the same month in united state collected Rs 616 crore. Motor Vehicle tax revenue was in the month of July Rs 160.90 crore against Rs 357 crore last year in the same month in united state.
 
From Stamps and Registration department state government collected Rs 213.25 crore where in the united state last year in the same month collected Rs 527 crore. From forest, Mining departments and land government received Rs around Rs 100 crore.
 
The state government got Rs 173.15 crore through non tax revenue. Meanwhile oil companies were paid the AP government share also to the Telangana government. After came to know this the Telangana government has transferred Rs 600 crore to AP Government’s account in the month of July.
