Suicide is cowardice, live to achieve: J Jayalalithaa
52-year-old party member has attempted to commit suicide
Chennai: Pointing out that “suicide was a cowardice act” AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa urged her party member Vijayalakshmi of Peramanur in Salem district to change her mindset and face life with confidence to achieve and to support achievers.
She advised the 52-year-old party member - who attempted to commit suicide on Saturday by consuming sleeping pills because she was upset over the Sri Lankan government’s insensitive portrayal of the Chief Minister on its defence website - to lead her life with confidence, achieve and support achievers.
“I have tremendous faith in achieving and winning in my struggle and work for the Tamil language and Tamil people,” Ms Jayalalithaa said in a letter to Vijayalakshmi, on Sunday. “I urge you not to try to end your priceless life. Suicide is an act of cowardice. It’s prudent to live to achieve and support achievers,” she added while expressing her sorrow on the suicide attempt.
