New Delhi: The railways will begin trial of providing pre-cooked branded meals in three trains from this week. Union railways minister Sadanand Gowda had announced the proposal in the Rail Budget last month to introduce branded meals in trains. The three trains that have been shortlisted for the trail of providing branded meals are Paschim Express, Karnataka Express and Banaglore-Ahmedabad Express. “MTR and Haldiram will provide pre-cooked meals in Karnatka Express and Paschim Express respectively.

The meals will be vegetarian and the passengers will get them through the existing pantry cars,” an official said.
