Appearing for the AP government, senior counsel A.K. Ganguly opposed the plea of Telangana and submitted that the AP Higher Education Council had already issued the notification for counselling to fill up the seats in AP and Telangana as per the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.

He alleged that the Telangana government was instigating employees and students of its state not to participate in the counselling. He pointed out that Section 75 and 95 of the AP Reorganisa-tion Act stipulated that there should be common admissions for both the states for a period of 10 years in all professional courses.

The bench asked Mr Salve whether the entrance examination was conducted separately for each state or whether it was a common test for both states. When the counsel replied that it was a common test, the bench asked how could there be separate admissions when the Act stipulated that there should be common admissions for both the states. In the meantime the admission process should go on and it be completed by Aug. 31.
