Islamabad:As Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan struggles to bring about a change in government, his family insists he must first change his marital status and remarry. Reports suggest Khan is under immense pressure from his family to marry a woman relative and start a new life.

Imran had divorced Jemima Khan, daughter of British billionaire Sir James Goldsmith, in 2004. They had wed in 199
5. The couple had two sons, who now live mostly with their mother.
Media reports said Imran’s sisters in particular are very insistent he get married to avoid personal vilification.

“They are sick of personal attacks against Imran... they cannot take this anymore and so want him married soon”, a source said.

“While the PTI chief’s response is not known, family sources said his sisters have already selected a lady for him from within the family. They added if all goes well, Imran will be married soon”, a media report claimed.

Pakistan’s interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, meanwhile, had a telephonic chat with Imran on Monday to exchange views on the “azadi march” due on August 14, Pakistan’s independence day.

“Imran Khan told Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan he considers him as a friend, but he will not discuss the azadi march”, said a close aide.

Imran Khan has said the march will be held in any case from Lahore to Islamabad, the source added. The march is in protest against what the PTI claims was rigging in the May 2013 elections.
