Mumbai: It is human to baulk in the face of criticism, but Akshay Kumar says that he doesn’t have any such problems. “I am not so shallow that I am not able to take criticism. In fact positive or negative, any criticism of my films, I take it in my stride,” says Akki.
“However, in the West, the criticism begins only after Monday. That is one thing I like. Allow the audiences to watch the film before passing your (critics) own verdict. There are critics who watch films sitting amidst the audiences; they experience the anguish, whistles etc. of the audiences. They also talk to them and consider their opinions before writing reviews. On the other hand, I feel there are those who have no experience in cinema who also write. They should not randomly write anything.”
“In cricket who pass comments? Former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar, Saurabh Ganguly etc. I feel they belong to this field and so they can pass authentic comments,” says Akshay, adding, “Down South, no one criticises films. If they write nonsense, the fans ruthlessly set fire to their effigies.”
