John Wusah  may be alien to  Malayalis today, but that is about to change. This  great admirer of Mohanlal will soon become a familiar face after the special bond he developed with the superstar on the sets of  Peruchazhi, in which he plays a crucial role.John Wusah, a Taiwanese American actor, dons many hats. He is a dancer, writer, film producer, martial artist and stunt choreographer. Born and brought up in New York, John has accomplished a lot in his career run  in Hollywood spanning four years. .

“I was a professional dancer before jumping into the world of acting. My love for acting and dance has given me a lot of opportunities in America. I’ve made my own films in which I’ve written, produced and starred in, as well as done Disney TV shows. I also acted in Mortal Kombat Legacy Season 2 and most recently the film Peruchazi,” says John, who has trained in martial arts for more than 20 years.

John landed his role in Peruchazhi through an audition. “I went in, did my best and a month later, they called me and said they want me to be in the movie. It was like a blessing. My character in the film is called Dup Lee, a man who can make a duplicate of everything. I help the main character played by Mohanlal in the film to attain his goal.”

The actor is all praise for Mohanlal and has dedicated a post in his Facebook page for all the Mohanlal fans around the world. “He is one of the most humble actors I’ve worked with. He is a fun person and I always love working with people who are cheerful like me on set. He found out I was a dancer and a martial artiste, so between takes we would always show each other our dance videos or martial arts photos. I guess we had a lot in common!”

Recollecting a funny experience with Mohanlal, the actor  says, “For some reason, no one could remember my actual name on set, everyone kept calling me Dup Lee. Suddenly Mohanlal walks up and puts his arms around me and says. ‘Hey guys... His name is John!’ We all started laughing and that just made my time on the shooting set much better.”
John believes that Hollywood and Mollywood have their own place. “I think the difference just comes down to the production teams. Hollywood has its own ways, as do Malayalam productions, but both are easy to work with. I enjoyed my time acting in my first Malayalam film.”

Sharing his experience of working with Hollywood stars like Will Smith, John says, “I think my favorite Hollywood star is definitely Will Smith. He is down-to-earth, loves to joke around, and was just over all friendly on the sets, much like Mohanlal. I love working with people who are professional, but also friendly and have a great sense of humour.”
John is working on two more films  written, produced, and enacted by him. The actor hopes to come to Kerala if the opportunity arises. “I would love to do more Malayalam films and I hope I get to be  part of the Malayalam culture again soon.”
