Hyderabad: Cyberabad police are now directing all commercial establishments and apartments along the city’s outskirts and the IT corridor to install CCTV equipment.
The authorities are also planning to connect this entire network of high-resolution cameras to a centralised command and control centres, as part of a fresh push to implement the 2013 Public Safety Enforcement Act.
Cyberabad Commissioner C. V. Anand said that CCTV footage accessed following incidents such as the Dilsukhnagar blasts which was of very low quality and proved to be a hurdle in the probe.
Mr. Anand was speaking at a security awareness program. Addresssing the audience, GHMC special commissioner P. S. Pradyumna called for cooperation between authorities and citizens, asking gated communities and commercial property owners to maintain a record of residents and tenants and to submit the list to the authorities every six months.
