New York: Artist Sam Van Aken is working on the Tree of 40 Fruit, in which a tree is modified to bear over 40 different types of fruits Aken began the project in 2008, Gizmag reported.

During spring, the trees blossom in variegated tones of pink, crimson and white. The trees are created by grafting scions from other trees into cuts on the tree. The grafting can be successful due to the similar chromosomal structure of stone fruits. He began the project after another project fell through due to lack of funding.
