Allegedly, Ms Kavitha said Jammu&Kashmir and Telangana were not parts of India
Hyderabad: The Madannapet cops on Wednesday said they are yet to file sedition charges against TRS MP K. Kavitha following her alleged remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana states. An opinion from a legal expert is awaited, the cops said.
K.P.V. Raju, the police inspector of Madannapet, said, “We have sought legal opinion. We will get that in a day or two. Once we get the legal opinion, we will initiate action accordingly.”
The case is based on a petition filed by BJP city legal cell convener K. Karunasagar, who alleged that Ms Kavitha had said that Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana were not parts of India.
The Seventh Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Nampally, on Tuesday directed the police to book a case under IPC Section 124 A for sedition, 153 B for imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration, and 505 for making statements conducing to public mischief. The court also wants a report by September 11.
