Hyderabad: Following objections from the Army, and the lack of permission from the Archaeological Survey of India, it is likely that the Independence Day celebrations are likely to be held without any tableaus in the fort. However, the government is considering to arrange tableaus outside the fort either at Narsingi or at Parade Grounds.
A final decision on the location for displaying the tableaux will be taken after the government receives a communication from the ASI. Telangana chief secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma wrote to the ASI on Wednesday seeking its permission to conduct Independence Day celebrations at Golconda Fort and also for displaying tableaus.
ASI is expected to grant its approval for flag hoisting at Golconda Fort within two days. But there is no clarity whether it will allow the entry of trucks inside the fort to display the tableaux.
Normally, various departments of the state government display tableaus highlighting the aims and objectives of the government and their achievements, during Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations. However, the Telangana government has decided to showcase the history and cultural grandeur of the state this time since it will be the first Independence Day celebrations in the new state.
