Chennai: “I knew Jigarthanda was not a hero movie, but an actor’s and director’s movie even as the script was narrated to me by Karthik Subburaj. Also, I knew I would not get any applause, but Simha would. However, I went ahead and accepted the role because of one person whom I want to thank profusely. He is none other than Bollywood biggie Aamir Khan,” said Siddharth at a press gathering recently.

“In 2005, when I got a call from Aamir’s office for a role in Rang De Basanti, I was not keen as I thought it would be insignificant. Later, when I saw the script, I realised it was a crucial one. Aamir used to say, ‘Our films are not for now, but for 50 years from now, when I will not be a star any more. This is for the future generations’. Those words gave me super confidence and the maturity to accept Jigarthanda.”
