Was depressed as my films weren’t doing well: Krishna Vamsi
Director gets emotional during press conference
Hyderabad: Senior director Krishna Vamsi became emotional on Thursday evening at the promotional event of his upcoming film Govindudu Andarivaadele while talking about Charan and his father Chiranjeevi giving him moral support when he was going through a tough patch.
“I was depressed as my films hadn’t been doing well for the past few years and my confidence levels were low. At that time, I just told Charan’s PA that I wanted to narrate a story to Charan. I thought that he would take his own time to call me, but Charan called me immediately. When I met him, he offered his chair. He respects me a lot and I was moved with his gesture. I have delivered hits for some of the actors, but they have never called me back. During my bad times, Charan was the only actor who gave me an opportunity to prove myself,” said a teary eyed Vamsi.
Ram Charan too praised Vamsi and said that he was one of the best directors of Telugu cinema. “After Magadheera I wanted to do a family drama, and asked Krishna Vamsi for a good subject since I always wanted to work with him,” said the actor.
The movie is about a boy from the UK who comes to a village in Andhra Pradesh to find his family roots. “Telugu audiences will remember this film forever,” added Vamsi.
