Bengaluru: Bengaluru woke up to a ghastly murder on Thursday with an agitated father beheading the lover of his 15-year-old daughter, chopping the body into pieces before packing it in a gunny bag and surrendering at the KR Puram police station in the city with the corpse It was not meant to be an idle threat when Riyaz Khan, 45, a small-time financier, warned the parents of the victim, Sadiq Pasha, 17: “When your boy comes back with my daughter, he will be chopped into pieces.”

“The threat has become real, they have murdered and cut my son into pieces,” sobbed Sadiq’s mother, Salma, who was seen at  the Bowring Hospital morgue on Thursday noon. Sadiq and the class seven student of a city-based school were childhood friends and  neighbours in Siddapura. The accused, Riyaz, was opposed to the relationship and had warned Sadiq’s family of dire consequences if the boy persisted with it.

Riyaz’s daughter, however, called Sadiq, after she had been forcibly engaged to another boy, and the two eloped. On July 30, Riyaz had lodged a complaint with police saying his daughter had gone missing.

Later, on coming to know her whereabouts, Riyaz and his wife Ashraf, rushed to Hommadevanahalli on Bannerghatta Road where they were staying in a room on Wednesday night.

Ashraf remained in the room with her daughter while Riyaz, who was drunk, took the boy out to commit the horrendous crime with a machete. He then rode 26 km to KR Puram on a scooter with the body in a gunny bag and surrendered to police.

Riyaz had also attacked Sadiq’s friend Irfan with the machete to extract details about the whereabouts of Sadiq and his daughter. A profusely bleeding Irfan was rushed to Nimhans. He is said to be out of danger.
