Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills checkpost might get a much needed 360-metre four-lane flyover from the TD party office to Madhapur.

Hyderabad mayor, Mohammed Majid Hussain, said on Thursday, “The Traffic department has recommended a flyover as the four-arm junction has reached saturation point and is always crammed. The project will be taken up in coordination with the Hyderabad Metro Rail as it needs to synchronise with their activities. After approval, construction of the flyover will take seven to eight months. The GHMC standing committee has approved the project  and the proposal will have to be approved by the general body after which it will be sent to the state government. Once the GO is issued, construction will begin.”

He said the GHMC would also lay cement concrete roads on the available corridor of the road from Gayathri Vihar apartments to Mohanagar X Road, on both sides of the Kothapet-Nagole Road. A road from Mohannagar X Road to Nagole X Road on both sides of the Kothapet Nagole Road will also come up, along with one from AP Dairy Development Corporation up to Hanuman nagar, Tarnaka and  Secunderabad.

A storm water drain will be constructed at Uttamnagar Road under-bridge. Internal roads and construction of compound wall at Sports Complex, Kateden, Rajendranagar will be taken up.

“Powers have been assigned to the special deputy collector, (land acquisition). Previously, it used to be dealt with by the chief city planner and the land special deputy collector, causing delays. Keeping in view the importance of the land acquisition, powers have been delegated,” said the mayor.

The GHMC standing committee has also requested the commissioner to procure 3,000 rickshaws and each ward will get 25 rickshaws and two wheelbarrows for each sanitation unit comprising seven members. Around 15000 new garbage bins will also be acquired to cover all the open points.
