Robbers break into Maisamma temple in Hyderabad, flee with goddess’ idol

The total loss of the temple is yet to be ascertained

Hyderabad: Thieves targeted the Bangaru Maisamma temple in Lal Bahadur Shastri Nagar in Moghulpura and stole the idol of the goddess on Friday. The burglars broke open the door of the sanctum sanctorum and fled with the ‘panchaloha’ idol and other valuables.
A. Gangaram, inspector of police, Moghulpura, said the robbers entered the place of worship and picked up the the foot-tall idol and other valuables.

Though initially it was thought to be an antique idol, it was later learnt that the idol was installed just about four-and-a-half years ago. The amount of the lost valuable is yet to be
estimated.
