Manhattan:A Manhattan based navigation app SketchFactor is being slammed on social media for being racist. It aims to warn people about “sketchy”, mostly black neighbourhoods in and around US cities.

Co-founders, Americans Allison McGuire and Daniel Herrington are currently finalists in a $20,000 startup contest and are planning to launch the app later this week. According to reviews of the app, a “sketchy neighborhood” is a term often used by “white people” to describe a “non-white” part of town.

The app even invites users to share “sketchy” stories about strangers they spot.
