Four protesting KPSC candidates hospitalised

Bengaluru: Four KPSC candidates who were holding a ‘fast unto death’ at Freedom park, have been admitted to KC General hospital. They were opposing the state government's decision to withdraw the notification over 2011 gazetted probationary examination The remaining candidates have continued their fast.

Meanwhile,the state government has made it clear that because charges of corruption have been proved in the 2011 appointments, there will be no going back on their cancellation of the notification.

According to the agitating candidates, four candidates including Mr. Devraj, sixth rank holder in the examination, who is leading the protest, were taken to KC General hospital for treatment after they fell unconscious. According to the hospital officials, all the candidates were treated in the ICU.

Volatile situation: The mood at Freedom park is turning volatile as parents of the candidates joined the protest.

High drama: Meanwhile, the CM's home office Krishna witnessed high drama in the afternoon when a candidate, Ms. Sushma, tried to enter the CM’s office saying she wanted to meet the CM. But policewomen, who were posted there, detained her and escorted her out of the area. Ms. Sushma alleged that although candidates are trying to meet the CM to press their demands, he is not giving them an appointment, which has frustrated her. "I have not paid even a single rupee for the.’’

Counter protest: Meanwhile, another group of 150 unsuccessful candidates met the CM on Saturday evening to urge him not to budge or yield to  pressure.

‘‘Many of those who are staging a dharna have got jobs after paying money. Now they are using the genuine students as their shield. We want the government to hold fresh examinations,’’ urged Dr Mythri who led the group.
