KRISHNAGIRI: Officials have sealed a private college in Hosur taluk, as it had been constructed without approval on agricultural lands.
The Hosur new town development authority (HNTDA) has been conducting an intensive drive against illegal constructions.
An official team, headed by P.Ranganathan, secretary of HNTDA, found that Navodhaya B. Ed. College in Kodiyalam village, near Bagalur, in Hosur taluk, functions in an unapproved building.
However, the college sources insist that the approval has been delayed by HNTDA. But the officials were initiating action against the institution to cover up their mistakes.
However, Ranganathan of HNTDA told DC that action had to be initiated as the building was constructed without approval.
They have also failed to get land reclassification orders, because the land on which the building that was constructed is classified as agricultural land in government records.
The HNTDA had sent several notices, but the college management failed to respond, leading to sealing of the college. Further action will be initiated against the institution after the college management responds to the notices served by HNTDA
