Passenger bitten by rat on Chennai Express

Salem: A passenger from Salem was bitten by a rat on Chennai express on Friday night. Mr N.P. Venkatachalam (35) was travelling in the S6 coach of Chennai express headed for Egmore railway station from Salem on Friday night.
 
As the train neared Attur at 10.30 pm, Venkatachalam tried to take his bag from under the seat. 
 
He experienced a jabbing pain and bleeding on the index finger of his right hand. When he looked underneath, he found a rat scampering around. He tried to catch the rat, but suffered two more  bites in the middle finger. He  killed the rat.
 
Salem divisional railway manager Shubranshu said. “We will intensify our efforts to make the trains rodent-free.”
